President Trump gets the first big legal test of his young administration this evening, as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, based in San Francisco, hears arguments over the president's targeted travel ban, four days after a federal judge in Seattle blocked the plan.

Three appellate judges from the circuit court will hear arguments for an hour via conference call from the Justice Department and the state of Washington, which challenged the plan as illegal and unconstitutional.
